Are PEC’s rates fixed for every project?
No. The published schedule is our standard rate schedule. Rates listed herein are superseded by the rates stated in any executed proposal, contract, or master services agreement between Perron Engineering & Consulting, LLC and the Client.
Does a higher hourly rate necessarily mean a higher total fee?
No. The total professional fee is the hourly rate multiplied by the hours required. A workflow that requires fewer hours can produce a lower total fee even at a comparable or higher hourly rate. Actual hours, fees, and schedules depend on project scope and conditions.
What is an “all-in” or blended rate?
An all-in or blended rate is the average cost per hour across everyone who works on a project, rather than the rate of any single classification. It is useful for comparing firms on a like-for-like basis, but it is not itself a billing rate — work is billed at the individual classification rates published above unless an executed proposal, contract, or master services agreement states otherwise.
How can streamlined workflows reduce project cost?
Connected project information, faster coordination and retrieval, and fewer repetitive or duplicated tasks can reduce the number of hours a project requires. The intent is to remove avoidable effort and schedule friction — not to reduce the professional care applied to the work.
What is ATLAS?
ATLAS is Perron Engineering’s connected operational framework for organizing project information, workflows, communications, and quality checkpoints. It supports the delivery process; professional review, responsible charge, and engineering judgment remain human-led.
If the engineer personally does the drafting, is it billed at the engineer’s rate?
No. Time is billed at the rate of the classification performing the work, not the license held. When the same licensed professional performs engineering, CAD design, drafting, or administrative tasks on a project, each task is billed at its own classification rate. Engineering judgment, professional review, and sealing are billed at the engineering rates; drafting and administrative work are billed at those lower rates — which is why smaller projects typically blend to an effective all-in rate near the illustrative blended rate shown on this page.
Are reimbursable expenses included in hourly rates?
No. Reimbursable expenses (travel, mileage, lodging, permit and filing fees, reproduction, shipping, and third-party testing) are billed at cost plus ten percent (10%). Mileage is billed at the prevailing IRS standard business rate in effect at the time the expense is incurred.
How are subconsultants billed?
Subconsultant services are billed at cost plus seven percent (7%) unless otherwise stated in the agreement executed.
Is travel time billable?
Yes. Rates are stated in U.S. dollars per hour and apply to all time charged directly to the project, including field work, travel time, meetings, and project management. Time is recorded in increments of one-quarter (0.25) hour.
How often are invoices issued?
Invoices are issued monthly and are due net thirty (30) days from the invoice date. Past-due balances accrue interest at 1.5% per month.
How long is the rate schedule valid?
This schedule is valid for twelve (12) months from the effective date shown above and is subject to revision thereafter. The effective date of the current revision (PEC-ADM-004, R3) is September 4, 2026.
